On the south side of the square is the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong. He was the chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China from 1945 to his death in 1976. Facinating information about it

I had heard "Forbidden City", but I thought it was just something from the movies. That place is amazing. Man, I think this is one trip you're never going to forget.
